Departure and Enlightenment

At the age of 29, Siddhartha , Prince of Kapilavastu, escaped his palace to become a mendicant, leaving behind his royal life.
...
6 years later, Prince Siddhartha gained enlightenment under a pipal tree, and rose as the Buddha we know.

Sometimes, it just keeps you wondering why it has to be a pipal tree...
